Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Happy Hour! In this episode Ben breaks out an old favorite to help him craft his Cherry Mezcal Old Fashioned. It's wonderful mellow smokiness helps you settle deep into your couch after a big turkey meal. Meanwhile Matthew is presenting his Chai Old Fashioned. It's warm, comforting and the perfect way to end a busy holiday. They also discuss the things they're really thankful for instead of their dumb ol' friends and family. Also, tips about how to get the most out of your ice. Recipes below. And Happy Thanksgiving!

Cherry Mezcal Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz Mezcal
  • 1/4 oz Cherry Syrup (such as from a jar of brandied cherries)
  • 3 dashes cherry bitters
  • Orange Peel and Luxardo Cherry for garnish

Add first three ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir gently for 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with a large chunk of ice. Express orange peel over drink and garnish with peel and cherry.

Chai Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1/4 - 1/2 oz Chai Syrup
  • 3 dashes Orange Bitters
  • Orange Peel and Luxardo Cherry for garnish
  1. For Syrup: Combine 3/4 cup dark brown sugar with 3/4 cup water. Heat while stirring until just reaching a boil. Remove from heat and add tea bag and allow to steep until syrup is cooled.
  2. Add first three ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with a large chunk of ice. Express orange peel over drink and garnish with peel and cherry.
