The Fall of Bitterness

It's Happy Hour! In this episode Ben faces his biggest fear, the Negroni. It's bright, it's sophisticated, and oh yes, it is so so bitter. Meanwhile Matthew is sipping his sweet and tart gin based Fall of Fig. It's gin things all around. Also they discuss if bitterness is an acquired taste and the right way to handle a bad cocktail. Recipes below.

Negroni

  • 1 oz London Dry Gin
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • Large Orange Twist for garnish

Combine gin, Campari and sweet vermouth in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until just chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over a large single chunk of ice. Express orange twist over glass and put twist in glass. Good luck.

The Fall of Fig

  • 2 oz London Dry Gin (Fig Infused)
  • 1/2 oz Benedictine
  • 1/2 - 3/4 oz Fig Syrup
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 2 Dashes Cardamon Bitters

Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake 10-12 seconds until well-chilled. Double strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a fig slice. Or don’t.
